Barbarian

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

The barbarian is a madman; a heathen warrior from beyond civilisation. The wild countries of savages are fraught with peril; rival tribes, deadly weather and terrible beasts. It is such a harsh environment which hones the barbarian like the edge of a knife; for the barbarian, death is a meaningless term, danger ignored in his ecstasy.

Despite the term used in this volume, not every member of a barbarian tribe belongs to the barbarian player-character class. The barbarian class is a specific type of elite warrior found in savage societies.

The mythic traditions of the North are replete with such frenzied warriors; Cú Chulainn, Ferdiad, Bödvar Bjarki, and Kveldulf are perhaps the best known.

Frenzy

Through religious fervour, a barbarian can enter a frenzied state wherein he has no fear and feels no pain. While in a frenzy, the barbarian has +2 to all attack and damage rolls, and is resistant to bludgeoning, piercing, hacking, and slashing damage. This ability lasts for one encounter and can be used once per day.
