Forms of Address
Royalty
The King or Queen is, saluted "Your Majesty" and thereafter addressed as "Sire" or "Ma'am" respecitvely. Princes and princesses are saluted "Your Royal Highness" and thereafter as "Sire" or "Ma'am" after the fashion of kings and queens.
Nobility
A Duke/Duchess is addressed "Your Grace". All other peer (Marquess/Marchioness, Earl/Countess, Viscount/Viscountess, Baron/Baroness) is addressed "My Lord/Lady" or "Lord/Lady X" where "X" is the noble's highest-ranked possession (e.g. "Lord Lincoln").
Gentry
A Knight is addressed "Sir" alone or preceding his Christian name; his wife is addressed "My Lady", while a Dame is addressed "Madam" or "Dame X" where "X" is her Christian name. A Lord/Lady of the Manor is addressed "Sir" or "Madam" respectively.
Clergy
The Pope is addressed "Your Holiness". An Archbishop or bishop is addressed "Your Grace". An Abbot is addressed "Father Abbot". A Priest is addressed "Father".
